Two! (and then some)

Yes, yes... we're completely late with this posting. Adeline just will NOT slow down, and it's hard to get her to stand still for a photo, let alone give us time to put together a post. But- we did manage to gather together some of the most outrageously cute pictures since Christmas, so here goes...

We can't get enough of two things- baseball and playgrounds. Luckily, most of Brody's games are in parks where there's at least a few play structures adjacent, so Adeline is very happy- she just doesn't let us watch all the game! We've realized that we'll need to watch games in shifts for the next few years. Although, she's showing a bunch of interest in throwing baseballs around, herself, so maybe we'll have TWO ballplayers pretty soon!

As usual, Brody chose the theme for Halloween, and the rest of us chose coordinating costumes and decorations. We went all "Game of Thrones" (Although none of us has ever seen the show) and had a midieval castle set up for the season. Big brother, Elias, from Norway, chose to be a Viking- of course! He invited all his friends from the exchange program, and Adeline "helped" twenty or so teenagers from all over the world carve their very first pumpkins! She chose to be a very fierce but very cute dragon for the party, but she was a little cackling witch for school parade!

The family loves the Holidays, and we got the opportunity to see everyone! Ice! displays were great for everyone (Adeline was tired and grumpy). But we all got LOADS of presents, and Adeline enjoyed riding her new bike.

Guess who found the Santa Hats?
We visited family down south during the winter and had some frontier fun. (Isn't it always fun when you can play with your big brother?!!!!!!

We tried to keep warm as best as we could during the chilly winter- we even went skiing once (and Addy did some sledding and made snowmen- next year she'll be skiing!)

Adeline is turning into a picky eater- much to Mom's dismay- but she does love her noodle soups! You may have also noticed that she FINALLY got enough hair so we can do pigtails (though she calls them "Ponies")
Speaking of speaking..... her speech just exploded this winter.
We were beginning to worry a little about how few words she was saying, not only because she so quiet, but because when she was saying words, they didn't make sense, and she would say the same word differently each time she used it. We talked to her pediatrician, and we did some testing, and it turned out she had a lot of fluid behind her ears and it caused 25% hearing loss! Poor thing couldn't really hear those words and couldn't hear the mistakes she was making in pronunciation, so no wonder???!! We had a quick 2 minute procedure to place tubes in her ears, and she's been chattering nonstop ever since!

We all went down to the greatest city in the world for Mardi Gras to visit our dear friends there. The kids had a blast- catching toys, treats and beads from floats, and we enjoyed seeing the historical sights and tasting the wonderful food. Adeline is a true southern belle!

Adeline manages to have a good time no matter what she's doing. She saw some elephants at the zoo, tried her hand at painting and found out that she LOVES new clothes, especially when they're bright and flowery!

For her birthday, Addy dressed up as a fairy during Brody's party, and then we all went out to her favorite diner, where the entire restaurant sang to her! She enjoyed her favorite foods- french fries and ice cream. She also will say she wants to eat waffles, rice and beans. What are we going to do with this kid?
As she's gotten more active and vocal, there is only one real truth in our house- Adeline LOVES her brothers (mom and dad, of course, too!) But she melts when the boys walk into the room. We had an exchange student "goodbye" event recently, and the students talked about and thanked their host families. Adeline sat patiently while 30 students were on the microphone, but when it was "Dias" turn to talk, she wouldn't stay in her seat. We finally let her run up to the front of the room so that he could pick her up. Everyone ooh-ed and aah-ed at the pure sweetness of it all!

We also got to visit some prospective colleges with Elias, and Adeline liked PIttsburgh the best!

Whether it's hanging around in the house...
or at the park

with the boys or just swinging from the playground slide, Adeline is one happy girl who goes to bed exhausted but very loved.
