2022- lots of growing to do

A ton of changes happening for Adeline in ‘22.

We started off the New Year with a ski trip to Lake Tahoe! We rented a neat little condo and a big ‘ol truck and cruised around the Nevada side of that beautiful place. Four days of skiing Northstar and Heavenly- gorgeous views and exhausting days.

In February, we got a visit from our Norwegian “family.” I don’t remember if I’d told you that the student we hosted this year is the brother of the student we hosted in 2018? The whole family came to see us, and Addy got to spend some quality time with “her” Elias!

Dave’s dad had been in poor health, and he passed away the day before Addy’s 6th birthday. We actually had to fly south for the funeral on the 31st. The neighbors put out signs during the night

and sent her messages, photos and texts all day while we were traveling- over 100 total sweet thoughts from all over. A sad way to start being six, but we always love seeing our family.

We followed Brody’s awesome lacrosse team through the spring, but we got the added bonus of Addy playing in a starter league, too. She added ballet class to her schedule and had a big recital on Mother’s Day.

Kindergarten ended successfully, and we drove all the way down Route 66 for a family road trip in late June.

Addy and Dave went back to Dave’s hometown to help out Nana (Dave’s mom) for a few weeks in July/August.

They returned home just in time to start first grade. She has five friends on our street who are first and second graders, so the “girl gang” is real. Someone always has a Barbie, American Girl, craft or My Pony thing happening. We love to put glitter everywhere, play with makeup, do fun hair styles and also read a million books.

Adeline lost her first tooth the same day she started hockey lessons- looks like a true player!

We had a Desendants Halloween- Addy chose Mal, so Dave and Rachelle were Maleficent and Hades!

An impromptu visit from Dave’s brother and sister-in-law was a fun kickoff to the ‘22 Christmas season. Santa brought the American Girl friend she chose (Julie from 1974) and Addy also got a small sewing machine so that we can make clothes for her and Julie to match. Addy’s fist sewing project was to make Brody a pillow with his team mascot to take on the lacrosse bus.

She has been walking on her tippy toes too much, so we had to put casts on both feet for about a month to stretch her ligaments and break the habit. They are off now, and she’s out selling Girl Scout cookies and back at gymnastics class. The girls head to New Orleans for two days of Mardi Gras parades next week, so you’ll have to wait on those fun photos!
